Current Projects

In August 2009, a community-based solar lighting project was implemented in the Masurura village. Kuwasha installed solar lighting systems in three key areas: the Masurura Community Centre, Medical Dispensary, and a classroom in the Masurura Primary School. The University Hill Elementary School in Vancouver raised $1,400 to support solar lighting in the Masurura Primary School; and lighting for the other two areas was supported through private donations amounting to a total of $5,610.  The villagers clearly expressed that an income generation initiative would enable them to move toward a sustainable development model, reducing their reliance on donations.
